eBay banning revenge feedback
“From May, those selling on eBay will not be able to leave unfavourable or neutral messages about buyers.”
I’m very impressed with eBay on this one. Undoubtedly lots of sellers will be moaning about this, but as a mainly buyer, this is great news. I buy a lot of rubbish off eBay, and every single time I’ve left negative feedback for a seller, it has always resulted in revenge negative feedback. I have ranted at them a few times about this, and suggested a “blind feedback” system where they can’t see what feedback was left for them until they’ve both left it. I’m suprised that they’ve gone to the extreme of just not letting them leave any negative or neutral feedback!
Although I agree with it, I can see how this is bad from a seller’s point of view. Some sellers live off their eBay shops, and anyone who’s sold things will know how easy something can go nasty. There are some people who really do expect the world for nothing, and can’t be pleased no matter what you do. With feedback being such an important factor in eBay, this could leave them open for unnessacary attack without being able to justify or defend themselves properly. I’ve seen quite a few eBay sellers that have had negative feedback, but clicking on the user’s profile will show that they do it to every seller.
But, I rarely sell on eBay so I think this is a great move.
